2019 Marked our 100th Year in Business!
After more than 100 years, Anderson Automotive is still as proud to serve our Baltimore, Owings Mills, Towson, and Pikesville area customers today, as we were back in 1919 when Arthur "A.D." Anderson first opened the doors.
Where Are We Headed?
For years, we've been one of the most trusted Maryland dealerships in the northern Maryland area, and that won't stop any time soon. Our goal is to grow with our community over the next 100 years and provide the same customer service we are known for.
We want you to come on this journey with us: whether you're in the market for your next vehicle, you're looking for great financing deals, or you are seeking out service on your vehicle. Our reputation has been built with generations of customers who continue to visit us--in large part--for our valued long term employees, and we want to continue that trend. We look forward to seeing you again soon.
A Brief History of Anderson Automotive
Arthur Anderson grew up on a farm in Calvert County, Maryland and moved to Baltimore in the early 1900's just before his 18th birthday. After spending 7 years as a conductor at Ellicott City streetcar line, Arthur started a Chevrolet dealership.
Seeing success from this shop, Arthur moved on to expand his dealership collection to include Chevrolet vehicles, Oldsmobiles, Mercedes-Benz vehicles, Lancia vehicles, Borgward vehicles and BMW vehicles. With old age, Arthur decided to sell his dealerships--one of which ended up in the hands of Bill Mortimer who continued to use the Anderson name as a brand and grew his single dealership into a franchise covering Chevrolet vehicles, Pontiac vehicles, GMC vehicles, Buick vehicles, Volkswagen vehicles, SAAB vehicles, Hummer vehicles, and Honda vehicles.
In the 70's Bill began passing off the reigns to his son Bruce Mortimer who now runs things with his son-in-law, Jeff Miller.
